Your Privacy

This page explains what information ADFLCC handles when you read the site or write to us, why, and what you can ask us to do about it. We have tried to keep it short because there is genuinely not much to say: the site collects very little.

The short version

  • ADFLCC is a static website. Pages are prepared in advance and served as plain files.
  • We do not use analytics tools, advertising networks, social media trackers or tracking pixels.
  • We do not ask you to create an account and there are no comment forms.
  • The only thing stored in your browser by us is your answer to the cookie banner.

Your cookie banner choice

When you accept or decline the banner, that choice is saved in your browser's local storage so the banner does not reappear on every page. It stays on your device, is not sent to us and does not identify you. Wiping the stored data for this site in your browser deletes it whenever you wish. More detail is on the cookie settings page.

Hosting logs

Like any website, ADFLCC is delivered by a hosting provider. To keep the service running and protect it against abuse, the provider's servers automatically record technical information about requests, such as IP address, the time of the request, the page requested, the browser type and any referring address. We do not combine these logs with other data or use them to profile visitors. They are kept for a limited period set by the host and then deleted. The legal basis for this processing is our legitimate interest in running a secure and reliable website.

When you email us

If you write to us, for example through the address on our contact page, we receive your email address, your name if you include it and whatever you choose to tell us. We use this only to read and answer your message, and to fix an article if you have pointed out an error. We do not add you to a mailing list or pass your details to anyone for marketing. Correspondence is kept for as long as it is useful for the conversation and is then deleted, normally within a year unless a longer period is needed to deal with a legal matter. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in replying to people who contact us.

Please avoid sending sensitive financial details such as account numbers or passwords. We will never ask for them.

Links to other sites

Several of our articles point to outside websites. Once you follow such a link, the other site's own privacy practices apply, and we have no control over them.

Your rights

If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, the GDPR and the UK GDPR give you rights over your personal data. These include the right to ask what we hold about you, to have it corrected or erased, to restrict or object to its processing and to receive a copy in a portable format. Similar rights may exist under the laws of other places. Because we hold so little, a request usually concerns emails you have sent us, and we will respond within the time the law allows. You also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority, such as the supervisory authority in your country or the Information Commissioner's Office in the UK.

Children

The site is written for adults dealing with business and household finances. Nothing here is designed to gather details from children, and we would delete any we learned we had received.

Changes to this page

If the way the site works changes, for instance if we ever added a feature that handles more data, we will update this page before it goes live and note the date below.

Questions about privacy can be sent to the email address listed on the contact page.
