Cookie Settings Explained

Cookie banners have become so common that many people click them away without reading. Ours is worth a quick look, partly because it asks for very little. This page explains what the banner does on ADFLCC and how to change your mind later.

What we store

ADFLCC does not set advertising cookies, analytics cookies or social media cookies. We do not load third-party scripts that follow you between websites. The site is built as a set of static pages, so there are no logins, baskets or session cookies either.

The one thing we keep is your answer to the banner. When you choose accept or decline, the site writes a small entry to your browser's local storage. Local storage is similar to a cookie in that it lives on your device, but it is not sent to a server with each page request. The entry simply records which button you pressed so you are not asked again on every page.

What happens if you decline

Nothing changes about how the site works. Every article, page and feature remains available. Because we have no optional tracking to switch off, declining mainly tells us not to add anything in future without asking you again. The choice itself is still remembered locally so the banner stays out of your way.

What our host may record

Separately from the banner, the company that hosts the site keeps short-lived server logs for security and reliability. These are not cookies and are not stored in your browser. The details are on our privacy page.

Changing or resetting your choice

To see the banner again, clear the stored data for this site in your browser. The exact steps vary, but the setting is usually found under privacy or site settings, where you can remove cookies and site data for a single address. Using a private browsing window also starts fresh each time, because local storage is wiped when the window closes.

Embedded content

Our articles are written to work without embedded players or widgets from other companies. If that ever changes for a particular piece, the content would not load until you agreed, and this page would be updated first.
